.359" 195 grain gas checked Ranch Dog.
I am sure it will provide ample entertainment in the 3" SP101 while I wait to build my .35R.
Still need to get a set of handles for this mold.

Compared to two .44 molds, one a stock LEE 208 WC and the other a RDO 265 grain.

Still waiting on the '95 Chilean I traded for to make one for myself. :cuss:

I guess that's OK, because the barrel is going to cost 2.5 times what I have in the action.

Started out looking at Midway for one of the A&B barrels.
Then off to Brownell's for a short-chambered one.
On to McGowen and then another I have forgotten already.
Douglas? For what anyone else wants, I may as well just go ahhead and go with what I know is going to work.
a $70 A&B is a boon if it shoots, if not, it's wasted money.

I would have to buy/rent a reamer and headspace gauges if I went with the short-chambered one from Brownell's, so by the time I get done "saving money" I would be as well off to just do the right thing right off the bat and go to Douglas.

The only problem with that is if I do that, why not send that gem of engineering and machining off to Turnbull as well?

Such matters occupy the damp, dark recesses of my mind that "work" cannot reach.

My understanding that Marlin took their very accurate rifling method from Douglas.

This guy's gotta be tough! I got a good laugh at this one.
http://castboolits.gunloads.com/showthread.php?t=40238

Reminds me of the guy who tried to return his new chasinsaw because it was nmore work than the hand saw he had hoped to repalce with it. When the guy at the lawn and garden store fired it up on the first pull, the guy who was returning it jumped and yelled "what the hell was THAT??

So, another mould shows up Friday - 432", 350 grain!
This one is for a friend and he can shoot it out of the .44 mag if he wants, but I think I will pass. It's made for the .444 Marlin.

Then, I get an e-mail that states there are some "extras" from the .22/50 grain group buy today.
There goes another $71.

I have a Ruger No. 3 in .223 that needs a good cast bullet load. Wish it were heavier, but it (the mould) was made for the .22s that would have been chambered in Marlins, like the .218 Bee, maybe the Hornet.

The .432" 265 grain bullet shoots great in my .44 Special. I have not gotten to chronograph it but have tried two mild loads that create tiny clusters at 15 yards. I need to get out to 25 and 60 yards and see how they look before deer season.
